BlenderBottle giveaway and review

by Michelle on June 26, 2012

The following is a my very first guest post and my dahling hubs is the guest…

Have you ever been frustrated with a lumpy protein shake?

For years, I (that’s me) choked through half ass stirred, half mixed protein shakes. Often, to eliminate the hassle and clean up, I’d buy those pre-made protein shakes that tasted like the inside of a camel’s mouth (don’t ask).

Eventually, I found a solution to my problem.

First, I started experimenting with easier to mix protein powders. Results improved, but weren’t 100%. Then, on a visit to Whole Paycheck, I purchased an interesting shaker. What made the shaker unusual was the inclusion of a stainless steel mixing ball. At first, I suspected it was nothing more than a gimmick, but results were as advertised. Finally, I had a quick, easy way to mix (and clean up) protein shakes without having to use the dreaded blender. By the way, that purchase was made four years ago.

Fast forward to the present.

Michelle has eschewed reviewing numerous products or providing endorsements. Often, after receiving a product, she couldn’t find anything good to say about the product. And mom always said, if you can’t say nice things about a product, then throw that shit in the trash.

So, she asked me (hubs) to write a review of a new BlenderBottle. Even cooler, the swell people at BlenderBottle would give a lucky reader (is that you?) their own BlenderBottle.

Well, since I love this product and have used the original for a few years, let’s get the main review points out of the way:

  • The surgical, steel ball blends protein thoroughly. I’m sure there’s some science behind this, but I’m not a scientist. I just know it works. I’m not certain about blending combinations of items like they do in those Will It Blend videos, but I’m confident with protein. Although, as I think about it, I’d wager this bad boy makes a swell martini.
  • If you’re mixing something other than protein, say Kool Aid,  this doubles as a portable water bottle, too.
  • I dig this new version, the BlenderBottle SportsMixer®. It holds 28 ounces, and the markings make it easy to see how much liquid you’ve added.  Easy clean up and it hasn’t warped or melted in the dishwasher. The BB literature says it’s BPA and Phthalate free. Again, I’m not a scientist, so if that’s important to you, do your due diligence. If it’s not, well shake it, baby.
  • You can find the BlenderBottle at numerous retail joints. Or, order one from their website.

Well, let’s get to the giveaway. Leave your name in the comment section and you’ll be entered. Say something nice about me (hubs), and be special entered (just kidding). I’ll do a double secret probation drawing on my birthday, July 1, and we’ll announce the winner. We’ll contact the lucky winner to get your info for those swell folks at BlenderBottle.

By the way, you can find them on Twitter: @BlenderBottle and Facebook: The Official BlenderBottle Page.

Hubs is not an easy man to please, so if he says it’s good..then it is.

I had gastric bypass and have to have lumpy protein shakes daily. I’ve skipped them because I cant stand the lumps. This makes me have hope! :)

Something nice about hubs… GOOD REVIEW! :)

Thanks! I think he did a great job!

Thank you, Chrissy. Not certain what type of protein you use (and require), but I have found certain brands fit the bill. Currently, I use Dymatize Nutrition Elite because it’s low in carbs, mixes perfect, and tastes good (it’s not a cheeseburger, but as protein goes, I rate it at the top). Of course, taste is subjective.

I stopped doing the protein drinks because it was always lumpy and not mixed well. It was frustrating and gross–especially getting to the end of the glass! I used to have a Magic Bullet which worked GREAT for making protein shakes but it died. I miss it terribly!

I don’t drink a lot of protein shakes and when I do, hubs makes them for me…so I thought it would be best for him to write the review. I kinda like this…

Your magic bullet died? Let’s have a moment of silence.
There, I feel a little better. You?

Thank you for the validation, Donda. From this point on…when Michelle informs me about hoe UNFUNNY I am, my response will be, “Yeah, well, Donda says I’m hilaroius!”

I already have two of the old-style conventional Blender Bottles (one for me, one for DS), but I wouldn’t mind winning one of those sports models!

Best of all, DS can CLEAN UP AFTER HIMSELF! Sure beats have to clean out the blender twice – because while I like my chocolate/banana/mocha concoction, he prefers the mixed berry w/vanilla & egg white powder.

Blender bottles are great! And so is your hubs for doing a review, ha! ;-) I’d love to win a new sport version of the Blender Bottle, to keep my other ones company.

Ooh, a trainer at an old job had one of these. Love the idea!

Ok, that looks awesome. I stopped drinking muscle milk because it used to shake up just fine in a normal shaker cup, and then all of a sudden it was always lumpy and gross, and I don’t own a blender. I definitely need to check these out.

Currently, my hubs uses an off brand mixer to make my morning yogurt/berry shake and PM post workout protein shake. I LOVE that he makes em, but hate the gunk in my mouth. The idea that I’d finally get to have a steel ball, even if just one, then finally getting non-lumpy milk in my mouth, makes me excited already!
Excellent review by hubs! More importantly, I love that he’s always your strength when you need it most. You guys are an awesome team!
